Gulf Cove
Gulf Cove is a community located on the western bank of the scenic Myakka River with direct access to Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico. Gulf Cove is a gem of Florida's Charlotte County. To the east is the stunning Myakka River and to the south lie Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico. As if the surrounding waterways weren't scenic enough, Gulf Cove homes are built around a canal system, meaning that many have direct waterfront access. A short trip through the canals to the Myakka River and the El Jobean bridge offers direct access to Charlotte Harbor and the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The community also has a boat ramp for those who prefer to trailer their boat.
Roughly 5,000 residents call Gulf Cove home, living in the midst of this relaxed residential atmosphere. The Gulf Cove real estate market is best described as upscale. Most of the homes are relatively new, with new housing starts coming up all the time. Prospective real estate buyers are delighted by the community's waterfront homes and condominiums, gated neighborhoods and golf communities. Its location & access to recreational activities add to its popularity. State parks and a dozen golf courses are within 10 miles. A 20-minute drive takes you to the white sand beaches on the Gulf. Residents stay active by hiking, biking, playing tennis and participating in a wide range of water sports including boating, fishing, jet skiing, snorkeling and diving. Gulf Cove living combines a convenient, central location with waterfront scenery and a large selection of recreational opportunities. Shopping for everyday items is close by, and neighboring communities and counties are easily accessible.
A wide range of outdoor activities are available at two local state parks: Don Pedro Island State Park and Stump Pass Beach State Park. Don Pedro Island is a barrier island located in the Intercoastal Waterway across from Cape Haze. The park, only reachable by boat, features mangrove forests and white sand beaches. Its visitors can enjoy the wildlife on their own or take a guided nature tour of the site. Stump Pass Beach State Park is situated on the southwest end of Sarasota County. This beachfront park offers access to the Gulf of Mexico and a long stretch of natural coastline. Hiking, shelling, swimming, sunbathing and wildlife viewing are popular here, as well as boating, canoeing and fishing.
Most of the homes for sale in Charlotte County's Gulf Cove have a peaceful, resort-feel about them. Nearly surrounded by water, the community's properties for sale offer breathtaking views of the river, harbor, gulf and canals. A good majority of the residences are waterfront. Those that aren't on the water can enjoy a community park and boat ramp. Most of the canals are relatively short, meaning that residents can quickly boat to the river. Some of the neighborhoods have their own recreation facilities. Those who wish to custom build a home can find ample vacant residential land.
Two of the most pristine and valuable pieces of property in Charlotte County are The Gulf Cove Park and The Gulf Cove Marina. Both are located on the Myakka River and are wholly owned private property of the Property Owners of Gulf Cove, Inc. The Park is not a public community park and is only available for use by members of the Property Owners of Gulf Cove, Inc. Membership in the association is available to all property owners of Gulf Cove for an annual fee of $40.00. The Boat Ramp is available for use by any resident of Gulf Cove provided they purchase a valid Boat Ramp Decal for an annual fee of $45.00. The subdivision of Gulf Cove is not a Deed Restricted Community.
